NOTES

AGE: If you are over 21 and don't wish to be specific about your age, you may simply enter "adult" in the AGE blank. However, if you do tell us your age (which we won't share with anyone else), it helps us make better decisions about lodging, bathrooms, stairs, class locations, etc. Note that resident minors must be accompanied by an adult relative/guardian. A non-playing relative/guardian may sign up at the "spouse" rate.

TSHIRT: You can order a luxurious all-cotton NHMC commemorative T-shirt when you register. The price is $10 each for sizes up to XL; sizes XXL and XXXL are $12, and you can add long sleeves for $3. Indicating a size on the registration form is the only way you can get one of these unique T-shirts! Our T-shirt order will be placed on May 15th, so you must register before then to order a T-shirt.

TODAY'S DATE: That's for the current date (Month / Day / Year). Sometimes Peter is out of town when your registration form arrives and a lot of them may pile up before he gets a chance to read them; it really helps us to know when you originally filled out the form.

SKILL LEVEL, JAM PREFERENCES, CLASS INTERESTS: These questions help us plan the classes and arrange the schedule to fit the students coming to camp. We know that in some cases you'll just be guessing and that's okay because you're not committing yourself to anything with your answers. The actual choice of classes that you'll attend will be made by you at camp each day.

I'M PAYING: Put an X to indicate whether you're paying the full amount (which would include any T-shirts you've ordered) or just a deposit at this time. It's always fine to send the full amount; it simplifies bookkeeping and if you have to cancel you would get back all the extra money you sent. (For details of our refund policy see the web page section on Refunds and Cancellations.) On the other hand, you can hold your spot with just a deposit (see "Timing of Payments" below) Mark the appropriate fee amount that you're signing up for (see the next paragraph). On the "I'm paying by:" line put an X to Indicate whether you're paying by check/money order or Visa or Mastercard credit card. Unfortunately we can't accept any other kinds of credit cards.

The various fee rates are:
+ Our "Resident" fee covers attending classes, the evening events, all the meals, and a shared college student two-person room. If you want a single room, you can have one for an additional $25 fee; in the past JSC let us give everybody singles, but they are now passing the extra cost on to us.
+ Our "Commuter" fee covers attending classes and evening events, but not meals or a room. It's intended for local people who want to attend but can't get away for the whole day.
+ Our "Spouse" fee covers meals, the evening events, and a shared room. It is designed for someone accompanying a regular resident, and might actually be a parent or close friend. It includes everything but classes.

Partial Weeks: We view our week-long program as an integrated whole, and we are understandably reluctant to break it down and offer it by the day. At NHMC the whole really is greater than the sum of the parts, and most of our expenses are the same whether a student is at camp three days or six. All that said, we know that from time to time someone may be dying to attend even though circumstances make it impossible for him or her to spend the whole week, and we sympathize. When such situations arise we will deal with them on a case-by-case basis, but prices will necessarily be higher when taken day-by-day.

Meal Plans: We only offer a single meal plan (all meals provided) for attendees from outside Vermont. Johnson State College regulations require that all students (or "spouses") in residence must sign up for the meal plan. Vermont residents may sign up for just tuition if they wish to stay at home and commute to camp. Commuting attendees can then purchase cafeteria meals at the going rate, (approximately $7 for lunch and $9 for dinner, and well worth it).

Timing of Payments: You can send the full amount at any time, but if you want, you can break it up into two payments: a $200 deposit and the balance. An initial deposit of $200 will hold your place until April 15, when all outstanding tuition balances must be paid up. After that date, all new registrations must be accompanied by the full tuition amount. Registrations are possible right up until the start of camp, depending on space availability. For details of our refund policy see the web page section on Refunds and Cancellations.

On-line Registration: We have no provision for paying on-line, but you can register via email...

Email Registration: If you intend to pay by Mastercard or Visa credit card, you can register by email. To do that, display the registration form; use cut-and-paste to copy it into a simple text editor (e.g. NotePad, Emacs, ConText, TextEdit, or SimpleEdit, are best; avoid fancy editors like MS Word or WordPerfect); and then edit your answers into the form. Answer everything EXCEPT the question about your credit card number; go ahead and include the expiration date, but not the card number. E-mail the edited registration form to . Then, send a separate email message containing just your credit card number with no other explanation (we'll figure it out). Of course, if you paid by credit card last year and your credit card number has not changed, you can just say "Same as last year" in place of the number.
That's all there is to it!

===> IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT EMAIL AND SPAM <===
If you're using any kind of "whitelist" (a list of approved senders to block unwanted email), be sure to add all three of <psl@acm.org>, <KenPerlman@aol.com>, and <motherlodemusic@earthlink.net> to your list of approved senders, otherwise you won't receive your registration acknowledgement, directions to camp, or answers to your questions that all come by email.

Gift Registrations: If you want to give a session of camp as a gift for Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, a special birthday, Father's Day, Mother's Day, or even April Fool's Day, and you'd like to surprise the recipient, you can send us the payment with a minimally filled-out registration form showing the recipient's name and address as well as your email address and phone number, and a note saying it's to be a surprise. We'll reserve a place at camp and keep the secret until you send us the regularly filled-in registration form.

Other questions: Many questions will be answered by the registration information on the NHMC home page. Please direct any other questions to either Registration@NortheastHeritageMusicCamp.com (questions about signing up for camp), or to info@NortheastHeritageMusicCamp.com (questions about any other aspect of NHMC).

Email Problems: If your email to us bounces for any reason, (or if you don't get a reply within ten days), please send a copy of the bounced email (complete with all the headers, if possible) to us at <psl@acm.org> and make sure the Subject: is "Northeast Heritage Music Camp" or just "NHMC" (to avoid spam filters). You can also send the registration info there as a last resort if you're having trouble getting through to the regular email address.
